Terms and Conditions

The important stuff about ordering from us — without too much legal waffle.

We make furniture to order, so there are a few things worth knowing before you buy. These terms explain how ordering, payment, delivery, cancellations and returns work, along with the usual legal bits.

If anything isn’t clear, please talk to us before ordering. We’d much rather answer a question now than argue about some small print later.

Buying something made especially for you?

Most of our furniture is made to order, and many pieces are made to your choices — things like height, size, timber, leather, fabric and frame finish.

Where an item is made to your specification or personalised for you, different cancellation and return rules may apply. We’ll make this clear where it applies, and if you’re unsure, please ask us before ordering.

Our Terms in Detail

About Us

Paul Frampton Design Ltd is a furniture maker and retailer based in West Wales. We design and make furniture in our own workshop and sell directly to customers through this website.

When you place an order with us, your contract is with Paul Frampton Design Ltd.

When you place an order through our website, you are offering to buy the products in your order at the price shown.

We’ll send you an order confirmation by email. This confirms that we’ve received your order. We reserve the right to contact you if there is a problem with your order, an obvious pricing or description error, or something we are unable to make or supply.

Please check your order carefully before submitting it, particularly measurements, seat heights, materials, colours, finishes and quantities. If you spot a mistake after ordering, contact us as soon as possible. We’ll always try to help, but once work has started on a made-to-order or bespoke item, changes may not be possible or may involve an additional cost.

If we are unable to accept your order, we’ll let you know and refund any payment you have made for the affected item.

Most of our furniture is made to order rather than taken from stock. This means we start making your furniture after you place your order.

Many products can also be made to your chosen specification, including changes or choices such as height, dimensions, timber, leather, fabric, frame finish and other options shown on the product page or agreed with us before ordering.

Please make sure the specification you give us is correct. If you’re unsure about measurements, seat height, materials or finishes, please contact us before placing your order — we’re very happy to help.

Once we have started making an item specifically for you, changes may not always be possible. If a change can be made but involves additional materials or work, we may need to charge for it. We’ll discuss this with you before going ahead.

Made-to-order does not affect your rights if an item is faulty, damaged, not as described or otherwise covered by your statutory rights.

All prices shown on our website are in pounds sterling (£) and include VAT where applicable.

The price you pay is the price shown when you place your order, including any options or upgrades you select. Any delivery charge that applies will be shown before you complete checkout.

Payment is required when you place your order unless we have agreed something different with you in writing. For larger, bespoke or trade orders, we may agree a deposit and balance payment separately.

We take reasonable care to make sure our prices are correct. If we discover an obvious pricing error after you order, we’ll contact you before proceeding. You can then choose whether to continue at the correct price or cancel the affected item for a full refund.

We will never increase the agreed price after an order has been accepted simply because the furniture takes us longer to make than expected.

Because much of our furniture is handmade and uses natural materials, no two pieces will ever be completely identical.

Timber naturally varies in grain, colour, knots and character. Leather can also show natural variations in colour, texture, markings and grain. We consider these variations part of the character of the material rather than faults.

We do our best to show colours and finishes accurately on our website, but screens and devices display colours differently. Photographs should therefore be treated as a guide rather than an exact colour match. If a particular colour or finish is important to you, please contact us before ordering.

Dimensions shown on our website are intended to be accurate, but because our furniture is handmade, small variations can occur. Where you have asked us to make something to a specific measurement, we will work to the measurements agreed with you.

Please check that the dimensions of the furniture are suitable for its intended location, including access through doors, hallways and stairways.

As most of our furniture is made to order, there will usually be a lead time between placing your order and your furniture being ready.

The estimated lead time shown on our website is a guide rather than a guaranteed completion date. We’ll always do our best to work within it, but occasionally things outside our control — such as material availability or supplier delays — can affect how long an order takes.

If we become aware of a significant delay, we’ll contact you and keep you informed.

If you need your furniture by a particular date, please speak to us before ordering. We’ll tell you whether we think it’s realistically achievable rather than promise something we can’t deliver.

We deliver throughout the UK and can also arrange delivery to many international destinations.

Any delivery charge that applies will be shown at checkout or agreed with you before your order is confirmed. Where we offer free UK delivery on particular products, this will be stated on the relevant product or basket page.

We’ll contact you when your furniture is ready and, where appropriate, arrange delivery with you.

Please make sure the delivery address and contact details you provide are correct. You are also responsible for making sure the furniture will fit through doors, hallways, stairways and other access points at the delivery address.

If delivery cannot be completed because nobody is available to receive the order, the address is incorrect, or suitable access has not been provided, we may need to charge the reasonable cost of arranging another delivery.

If your furniture arrives visibly damaged, please let us know as soon as possible and, where practical, take photographs of the packaging and the damage. This helps us put things right quickly.

Please check your furniture as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

If anything appears to be damaged, faulty, missing or different from what you ordered, please contact us as soon as you can. Photographs are often helpful and can make it much easier for us to understand what has happened and sort it out quickly.

Please don’t attempt to repair, alter or modify an item before speaking to us, as this can make it more difficult for us to assess the problem.

If there is a genuine problem with something we have made or supplied, we want to know about it. We’ll discuss it with you and work out the appropriate solution.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

.

If you need to change or cancel an order, please contact us as soon as possible. The earlier you speak to us, the more likely it is that we can help.

For standard items bought online, you may have a legal right to cancel your order within the applicable cancellation period.

Different rules can apply where furniture has been made to your specification or clearly personalised for you. This may include items made to measurements or with particular options specifically chosen or agreed for your order. In those circumstances, the usual change-of-mind cancellation right may not apply.

If we have not yet started work, we will always try to accommodate a change or cancellation where reasonably possible. Once manufacture has started, changes may not be possible or may involve additional costs.

None of this affects your rights if the furniture is faulty, damaged or not as described.

If you wish to return an item, please contact us before sending anything back. We’ll explain the appropriate next steps and, where applicable, arrange the return with you.

For standard goods bought online, consumers normally have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of receiving the goods. Where that right applies, the item should be returned in good condition and you may be responsible for the cost of returning it.

The usual change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply to goods that have been made to your specifications or clearly personalised for you. Because much of our furniture offers customer-selected options, we will consider the particular product and specification when determining whether this exception applies.

This does not affect your statutory rights if an item is faulty, damaged or not as described.

Where a refund is due, we will make it using the original payment method unless we agree otherwise.

For more practical information about arranging a return, please see our Returns & Delivery page.

If your furniture is faulty, damaged or not as described, please contact us as soon as you reasonably can.

Tell us what the problem is and, where possible, send us a few photographs. This helps us understand what has happened and decide on the quickest and most appropriate way to put it right.

Depending on the circumstances, the appropriate solution may be a repair, replacement, refund or another remedy agreed with you.

Please don’t arrange repairs or alterations yourself before speaking to us unless we have agreed this with you.

Your legal rights in relation to faulty or misdescribed goods are not affected by these terms.

If you are buying from us wholly or mainly for the purposes of a business, trade, profession or commercial project, you are purchasing as a business customer rather than as a consumer.

Consumer cancellation rights, including the 14-day cooling-off period for certain online purchases, do not apply to business purchases.

For trade, hospitality and larger commercial orders, we may agree separate prices, specifications, payment terms, delivery arrangements and lead times with you. Where we do, those agreed terms will form part of our contract with you.

Please check quantities, measurements, specifications and delivery requirements carefully before confirming a commercial order, particularly where furniture is being made specifically for your project.

Nothing in this section limits any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

We are responsible for providing the furniture you order with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with your legal rights.

We are not responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, or for losses that we could not reasonably have foreseen when the contract was made.

We are not responsible for problems caused by incorrect measurements, specifications or information supplied by you, provided we have made the furniture in accordance with the information you gave us.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.

If you are buying as a consumer, these terms do not affect the legal rights available to you under UK consumer law.

We do our best to make sure the information, photographs, dimensions, prices and descriptions on our website are accurate and up to date.

Because our furniture is handmade and many of the materials we use are natural, the item you receive may not be identical in every detail to the photographs shown. Differences in timber grain, knots, leather character and other natural variations are to be expected.

From time to time we may improve or make small changes to the construction or specification of a product. We will not make a significant change to something you have already ordered without discussing it with you first.

Occasionally our website may contain an obvious error in a price, description, measurement or other information. If we discover an error that affects your order, we’ll contact you and explain the situation before proceeding.

We take your privacy seriously and only collect, use and store personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.

When you place an order or contact us, we may need to use your personal information to process your order, arrange payment and delivery, communicate with you and provide customer service.

These terms and any contract between you and Paul Frampton Design Ltd are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If a problem arises, please contact us first. We would always rather talk things through and try to find a sensible solution than turn a disagreement into a legal dispute.

If you are a consumer, you will retain any rights you have under applicable consumer law, including any right to bring proceedings in the courts available to you under those laws.

Nothing in these terms is intended to restrict any legal rights that cannot lawfully be restricted or excluded.
